An impressive career can conceal some of the darkest stories beneath. The winner of both the USA and World Championships in the event of a hurdle, Lolo Jones has reached her current standing after many years of hard work and an immense patience. Jones' childhood was difficult because she was born to a single mother within a large household. She lived with her mother at a basement church and was constantly in motion. Jones her nomadic life forced her to change schools every year until high school. Jones was forced to move away from her mother at Theodore Roosevelt School in order follow her passion for track. Jones was part of four families throughout her time at high school to study at one location. Jones was a member of the Orchestra of Iowa as well as the Gatorade Track and Field Award.
